Fabric of the Nation

Closing Date : 12 midnight, 8 Aug 03
Organiser :

Over the past few years, Singaporeans have been put to the test like no other time in recent memory, and through their resilience, have come together to triumph over the crises posed by SARS, terrorism, economic restructuring and unemployment.

To mark this special milestone in Singapore's history, Channel NewsAsia is leading a nationwide community project, with the support of the Ministry of Community Development and Sports, that will culminate in the unveiling of a patchwork tapestry - the Fabric of the Nation.

Those interested are encouraged to contribute their own personal piece of patchwork, filled with patterns about what Singapore means to us and what we want to say to our fellow Singaporeans.

These pieces of testimonies will then be stitched together into a giant tapestry at the "Sewing Day" on 23 Aug 2003. This activity over the next month serves not only to bond Singaporeans, but the Fabric of the Nation will become an artwork, a symbol of a nation stitched and united in adversity.
