Date : 19 Feb 2000
Venue : IPAM
Organiser : Tanjong Pagar CDC

What took place

The Tanjong Pagar Community Development Council (CDC) organised a series of S21 Forums to extend the S21 Vision to the community and involve it in the realisation of the S21 Vision. The Tanjong Pagar CDC S21 Tamil Forum was the fourth in the series targeted at the Indian community in the district. More than 120 participants attended the Forum.

Dr S Vasoo, who was the Guest-of-Honour for the Forum, highlighted the importance for community leaders to assess and meet the needs of the community. They were also well-positioned to serve and reach out to the less-informed and less-fortunate in our midst. Dr Vasoo said the spirit of S21 could be illustrated through the concerted efforts of the community leaders.

Dr Chitra Rajaram, Editor of Tamil Murasu and Member of S21 Facilitation Committee, was the Guest Speaker. Dr Rajaram, together with Mr S.D. Maniam, PBM, Chairperson of the Panel Discussion and Chairman of Tanjong Pagar District Indian Activity Executive Committee (IAEC), and Mr A. Palaniandy, PBM, Chairman of Henderson CC IAEC, answered queries from the ground on the S21 Vision.

The Forum also saw the presentation of prizes to the winners of the Tanjong Pagar CDC S21 Vision Photographic Competition, held last September, with the Photographic Society of Singapore.
